Our family lived on T.I. From 1964 to 1970 when my dad Walter Thompson retired. Dad
taught in the Electronics school. I remember going to school on the island in the old
barracks, for lunch we had to walk to the new elementary school to eat. On our way
back if we had any morsels the seagulls would almost attack us. Then They had what
they called integration and bussed us to San Fransico where no one wanted us there. If
I remember right our address was 1410 Gateview Ct. When I look google earth the
place is still standing but many of the buildings I remember are gone. I didn't see
commissary or stores. I remember I used to have to go buy mom and dad smokes at
the commissary and the prisoners in the brigs would yell down at us naughty things. I
remember the bowling alley and ofcourse the pool where would would jump off the
rafters down into the pool. I remember sneaking of to San Fransico with my friend
Debbie Sweet, I also vaguely remember Janey Causland I have callouses on the
bottom of my feet still from the moccasins she gave me with holes in them lol so many
memories can't list them all. Would love to hear from anyone that remembers me or
anyone I have mentioned. I also. Remember helping my dad clean the arcade there
but can't remember the name of it. It had a bunch of vending machines, pool tables etc.
a hang out for the military guys.
