Treasure Island 1961-62 (USS Lowe & "RD" A-School

I was stationed aboard the USS Lowe (DER-325) in 1961-62 homeported at T.I., San Francisco, CA. I also attended Radarman "A" School at SSC, T.I., in 1962-63 before graduating and reporting aboard the USS Courtney (DE-1021) out of Newport, R.I.
I have many fond memories of Treasure Island and San Francisco. What a place to be for a 17 year old from Tennessee. Like many others, I'm sorry to hear Treasure Island is no longer a USN facility.
