: We served under a Regular Navy Lt. Commander, a gruff fellow with, as it turned out, a heart
: of gold. He was the CO of the Disbursing Office. Needless to say, due to our being the
: paymasters, people were very kind to us. This same gruff fellow had tears in his eyes - as
: did we - when he bade us goodbye at the end of WWII. But I can't remember his name now
: as time has caught up with me.
: Former SKD2C

My father, Marvin VanDusen, was stationed @ TI during WWII. He may well have worked as a yeoman in disbursments, as he had worked as a paymaster at a construction company prior to enlistment. He left TI in May '44, shipping out on the USS Denver (CL-56) when it left Mare Is. after repairs and refit.

While @ TI, he served under CDR or LCDR Kessler; not sure of the rank.
