: Bob,

: Just came across your posting.

: Was in the band same time as you, Sep 55 to May 56. Started as
clarinet then to drum major, for most of '56 I think.

: Aboard John R. Craig DD885 for 27 months then Southerland DDR 743
for 9 months. 3 cruises to WestPac including 3 months in open
atmospheric atomic bomb testing in '58.

: Out in June 59, ETR-2.

: Good times!

:
: : : Did you see the posts further down the page about the
Electronics School Precision Drill Team? I'm still hoping that someone
will find something meaningful of my photo of the Electonics School
guys in formation in front of the fountain from the world's fair . . .

: : : : Sheesh!Is anybody out there still alive that remembers us? I
never heard of the drill team.I was there from Sept.'55 to June'56 (42
wks.) attending "A" school. We(the band)were in a local parade most
every weekend. We had our own barracks but you had to maintain a
certain minimum grade to remain a member. After school I was assigned
to the transmitter facility of NavComSta San Diego. After shore duty I
was aboard the USS Dennis J.Buckley DDR-808 out of Long Beach for two
years. We did two cruises to WestPac including one that took us to
Australia, New Zealand and Samoa. I separated from the service in
July'59 as an ET-2.I will forever be grateful to the U S Navy for
affording me the opportunity to learn the basics in a field that
provided me employment for my working life.I'm 72 but I will never
forget my time at TI. Any former members out there feel free to give
me a blast.

Hi Guys,

I've done a couple of posts about the Drill Team. I was on the team
from May, 1953 to January, 1954, then off to the receiver station in
Sabana Seca, PR. Never was on a Navy ship, but went to PR on an ATS
ship. I have pics, but mostly of parades and field competitions.
They were fun times.
