Treasure Island was my first duty station out of bootcamp. My CO at the time was Capt. Pohli, who to this day remains the best and my favorite of any CO I worked for in the Navy. Very few people knew my real name as I was always called 'Charlie'. I loved being at TI and still have very found memories of my time with the Honor Guard. I Lived in the star barracks and while I was there refinished the ceremonial rifles that we used to use. I spent a lot of time visiting the museum and walking about the base. I left TI the end of 1979 to attend BE&E school in San Diego and then DS school at Mare Island. God Speed to all who spent time on TI.
